Geneviève Laporte was Picasso's muse and lover. During their relationship the artist creates numerous works with Geneviève as his model. In this Picture Geneviève is sitting in profile to the viewer, with crossed legs and her head resting on her hand. Her face is accentuated by the deep black areas around her head. In contrast to this the contour of her body is drawn with only few lines. Despite the reduced form Picasso uses etching very effectively to create a highly expressive print.
